Our featured car for today, the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera translated as Super Light in English is of course the lighter version of the regular Gallardo. The Superleggera weighs only a thirteen hundred and thirty kg making it a hundred kg lighter than the regular Gallardo.
One down! It truly bears less weight. But how about the engine? Is it more powerful than the previous Gallardos’?
So to speak, it has a rear wheel drive mid mounted V10 at 90 degrees engine which delivers a maximum power of 530 horsepower at 8000 rpm making it ten more than the previous. It retains the maximum torque of 510 Nm at 4250 rpm of the previous model.
Another one down! It really produces more power and is more dynamic than the already sporty previous make making it a true Superleggera after all. It only has a weight/power ratio of 2.5 kg/hp thus making its way to the top lightweights of its kind and also the fastest of its kind, taking you from a halt to 100 km/h in only 3.8 seconds plus a top speed of 315 km/h.
You can have a choice of whether put on a manual 6-speed plus reverse gearbox or the robotized sequential E-gear sytem with actuation by paddles on the steering column.

It has a permanent 4-wheel drive with viscous traction system, an electronic Lamborghini L.I.E. with individual static ignition, multi-point sequential fuel injection, Drive-by-Wire system, OBD system, and a dry sump lubrication system.
This Gallardo Superleggera has a structural aluminum space frame and based on aluminum extruded parts welded to aluminum casted joint elements. Its aluminum body is with thermoplastic “hang on” parts.
It has a carbon fiber engine bonnet with polycarbonate transparent part, aluminum double wishbones front and rear suspension system, anti-roll bar, anti-dive and anti-squat, a full ESP system with ABS, ASR and ABD, a power assisted rack and pinion steering wheel, and a Pirelli Pzero Corsa tyres.
The brand new price of this Superleggera when it came out and exposed its beauty and prowess to the world at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show is just a flashing £151,000! That is just a lot of fortune to be spent on a well, worth-it supercar.
